So, a lot of people have been asking what it’s like to not have to document my daily routine since my 100 days off are over (although, technically, my time off does not end for another week and a half). Honestly, it frees up a lot of time that gets filled with more procrastination and parental missteps. Since I stopped writing this journal, my mother hijacked my Facebook account, I had an anniversary tantrum, a fight with my daughter about the Tooth Fairy, a one day trip to Sea World for my daughter’s birthday/friend’s wedding, our housekeeper’s divorce and subsequent self-exile, and a flurry of job offers immediately following my signing on to take a job. They are all good stories, and if I were to write 114 days off, they would be included. However, my project now is to go through all 100 days off, edit them from 324 rambling pages to a tight 320, add some stories, cut some stuff and repackage it into a book that will be available at a computer near you sometime within the next two months. Of course, like a contractor, the last ten percent is almost impossible to do: witness the series of missing thresholds, switchplates and cabinet knobs throughout my house. My goal is to get everything together over the next week or so and have the book ready to publish 4-6 weeks after that so I can start my new job with a clean slate. Unless I get distracted, which is very unlike dammit my freaking dog ate my glasses! If anyone wants two dogs and knows of a good housekeeper, please let me know.
